CUSTOM HEAT SINKS

SituationA client needed to quickly solve a heat dissipation problem with an electronic component on a large new circuit board by creating and testing several new heat sink designs.

Solution: Meadows machined several aluminum heat sinks and delivered them to the client within two days.  After determination of the best design, Meadows ordered an aluminum extrusion to replace the costly machined heat sink for production.  Meadows received a blanket purchase order for production and now supplies the company with finished heat sinks per their weekly forecast.

Custom Face Plates

CUSTOM FACE PLATES

Situation:   A client required high quality custom aluminum face plates to display and label indicator LED’s on the front of circuit boards for a large networking device.  The client also needed face plates for the back of the circuit board to terminate various connectors.  Prototypes were sent out to another facility, but arrived late and not to print.

Solution:  Meadows unique capability to produce large volume, high quality, inexpensive finished aluminum face plates for electronic devices was put to the test.  Meadows fabricated prototype front and back face plates for the client within three days. The customer was extremely pleased as the Meadows face plates gave the customer’s device the "expensive" look they desired.

Meadows front and back face plates were supplied completely finished, labeled and plated.  Meadows has all silk screen marking and finishing machines in-house to complete any face plate.  For production quantities, Meadows suggested using one of their large selection of standard extruded shapes to reduce costs.  Meadows received a blanket purchase order and now provides finished extruded face plates according to the clients forecasts.

RAPID RESPONSE PANEL.

Situation A client required a large, complex panel fabricated very quickly to attach both a display and keyboard to a costly machine prototype.  With the deadline rapidly approaching, the client had yet to complete their drawings, but had the panel designed in Solid WorksTM.  The panel could be fabricated in plastic, but required a very expensive mold to be made and projected delivery was months away.  The conclusion was that the panel had to be machined rapidly from aluminum.

Solution:  Meadows received a Solid WorksTM file from the client and via our CAM system, quickly machined the panel from a 350 pound aluminum billet.  The finished 19 pound part was painted and delivered in a few more days.  Meadows eventually received the finished production drawing after the tenth panel had been delivered.

PRECISION MACHINED PLASTICS

Situation A Biomedical client needed several complex components machined from non-corrosive material and specified stainless steel.  Meadows alternatively suggested using an FDA approved plastic for these parts.

Solution:  Meadows designed the components utilizing PRO/EngineerTM and then fabricated the plastic parts.  Meadows wealth of experience in plastics CNC machining resulted in a significant time and cost savings to the client.
